Question

Question God's existence and you have supporters

Question Religion and you have followers

Question the innocent and you have onlookers

Question basic moral beliefs and ethics on the basis of reason
and you have no one.

Guess which one I am.

How about onlooker? X)
I don't quite agree with the last line though.
Nowadays "reason" sells. Not faith.
Cheers.

P.S- Deeganto, you shocker!
Two posts in five days, what are you playing at?! :O

Deeganto said...

I'm talking in majority.

Reason does NOT sell.
When it comes to the roots of emotions and morals.

Deeganto said...

PS: I felt like writing and thus.

.PaNdOrA said...

which moral belief did you question???

Anonymous said...

The first line, we've discussed that subject oft.

Vighnesh said...

This isn't about majority.
It's about people of different generations, people who grow up in different environments, people with different ideologies etc etc.

In my opinion, the not-so-ignorant people prefer reason over beliefs, faiths and emotion.
Plus, their morals are backed by reasons.
The rest are clinging to the ways in which they are TAUGHT to think.
Ironically, in most cases, even education fails to make a difference.

^"This" isn't about the majority?
I AM talking about the majority.
Therefore, "This" IS about the majority.

I don't know why you stated your opinion when I'm saying the same thing.

@Nikhil: We have.

@ Dipasha: Lots of them. "Selflessness" being the most emphasised one.

Clearly, you have reached THAT state of the apparant wisdom when the world and its ways has showed you things that MIGHT have caused a sense of revelation of the truth about it being, idk bad? and that is how you tumble down to questioning selflessness.
Clarity of mind is important. YOU've taught me that. I am more interested in knowing about things that made you put this up, thus.

Vighnesh said...

This discussion won't achieve anything.
The world isn't divided into rational and irrational. Reason and faith.
There are the conflicted and the confused and the clueless.
THEY are the majority.

I want to know WHY you're bringing this up.

Deeganto said...

^
1)I didn't start the discussion.
2)I brought this up because I felt like writing it down.
3)I didn't say the world was divided into rational and irrational.
You're assuming things.

@Sapna: When I meant "question" it wasn't in the literal sense of the present.

I have already come to a conclusion and I'm against "selflessness" as a primary outlook of life that people believe in and stand by as an ideal.

Deeganto said...

Everyone around me made put this up.

Vighnesh said...

Oh and don't bother questioning "selfless-ness" and such like.
You'll never get a straight answer.
I've tried. XD
My personal favourite is "respect elders and put their wishes before your own".
That borders on selfless-ness, but far more comic.

Vighnesh said...

I NEVER said that YOU did any of those things.
I'm stating them as "in-general".

Deeganto said...

I can go along with respecting elders but not putting forth their wishes before my own.

Why are you stating them in general?

Vighnesh said...

I refuse to respect elders just because they're elders.
Doesn't mean I show any disrespect.
I said that generally to sum up my view on the topic.

Question the existence of true selflessness or its necessity and-or implications?

Deeganto said...

@Vignesh: Fair enough.

@Siddhesh: Selflessness as a primary aspect of life.

.PaNdOrA said...

i've been thinking about selflessness and the conclusion i came to is no one actually is...oh they think they are but somewhere in their mind they want something-respect,love,acceptance,or maybe just to prove a point and look nice...everyones selfish..i used to think i care about others but i don't think so anymore....

but then again i maybe wrong..there maybe people who do but it just goes against the laws of nature...its not how the world is meant to work

Deeganto said...

It's nice to be selfless occasionally but not as an ideal goal in life.

That is what I meant.

Everything should be symbiotic and that's how I like it and that's how it is.

I don't like the sugarcoating.

.PaNdOrA said...

so what you meant was you should care but not upto the extent upto which you sacrifice your own desires and wishes???

selflessness is sugarcoating according to you???

Question your existence.

Because at the end of the day,THAT is exactly what you were trying to do when you questioned God's existence, religion, basic moral beliefs.

AD. said...

Btw,

I don't question God's existence unlike a lot of my friends.

I don't question religion.
I question fanatics.
And superstition.

I question the onlookers.

I question basics.Morals.Ethics.
Because I can.

Vighnesh said...

I question God's existence. Because I CAN.
I believe God is just a powerful concept to instill "morals" and "values".
Stories of god are a higher-level version of the "fables", both serving the same purpose.

Socially Awkward Paint Monster said...

@V- I believe in God, to start with.
Also, i am not going to make you believe in God or even go near trying to show you any choices.
You CAN question a LOT of things, btw. It is unflagging that God and "morals" serve the same field. And from my personal experiences, not ALL stories of God are a "higher-level version of the fables".

@Deeganto- Sometimes, selflessness as the ideal goal in life is nowhere near sugarcoating. Selflessness is highly subjective, anyway.

And BOMBS DETONATED? :-S

The Heretic Teen said...

Which one is you?

And you are an atheist, right?

Vighnesh said...

@ Sapna-To each his own, don't you think?

Socially Awkward Paint Monster said...

^ which is why i felt the need to put my thoughts too, which clearly counteract yours. Not that i am trying to imply anything by counteracting. Just felt the need. :)

Deeganto said...

@Aritry: I'm NOT an atheist.

@Adrita: I don't have to question my existence. I'm clear about that.

I don't question god's existence, I never have. I don't feel the need to.

@Sapna and Dipasha: I did not say selflessness was sugarcoating.
They were 2 separate unrelated sentences.

Selflessness is not subjective.

And yes, BOMBS DETONATED.
Nice touch, no? xD

Deeganto said...

^what?

The Heretic Teen said...

I thought you were an atheist.
So you believe in God and those other stuffs?
or just agnostic?

The Heretic Teen said...

anyways, take a look at my blog, if you know the way...ahemm...

.PaNdOrA said...

being an atheist is pretty lame..not believing in religion and idol worship is fine but theres no reason to question gods existence....something must have created all this!!!its logical

.PaNdOrA said...

@deeganto--->do you believe in religion??

Deeganto said...

^Please do not start a discussion about god's existence.
There is nothing lame about not believing in god.
Everyone is entitled to their own belief.

I don't follow religion strictly.
I find out reasons why religion is the way it is.

Deeganto said...

@Aritry: "other stuffs"?

.PaNdOrA said...

ok i won't but i still think its wrong..anyway m outta here
